The NIH Toolbox does adjust for age and sex assigned at birth for the Emotion Battery for kids. However, PROMIS Pediatric and Pediatric Proxy does not adjust for demographic variables. If you have scientific questions about age, sex assigned at birth, or gender, it is important to include them in your analytic plan. Indeed, one could argue that even for the NIH Toolbox, if you are interested in demographic effects for scientific reasons, it would be better to use unadjusted values and include the demographics of interest in the analytic approach.

Can someone tell me if the PROMIS Pediatric T-scores are corrected for age and gender? I can find this information for NIH Toolbox assessments but for the PROMIS it just says a reference population was used. If they are not corrected for age and gender, would you recommend adjusting your models for these variables?
