Strategies for Complete Data Collection

• When outcome measures are used to compare health systems, having complete and consistent data is critical for minimizing bias.
• It is common for patients to receive care at different healthcare organizations and to miss follow-up appointments. Therefore, strategies for collecting follow-up measures outside of in-person appointments are necessary.
• Identify and collect clinical and demographic variables (e.g., age, sex, smoking status) used in risk adjustment by payers.
