Implementation Guides

Many guides outline steps for implementing patient-reported outcome measures for patient care.

HealthMeasures Implementation Guides

Several guides and toolkits exist to facilitate implementation.

These guides are based on a 2021 publication: Franklin PD, Bond CP, Rothrock NE, Cella D. Strategies for effective implementation of patient-reported outcome measures in arthroplasty practice. J Bone Joint Surg Am. 2021 Jun. doi: 10.2106/JBJS.20.02072. PMID: 34143757

Implementation Planning Guide in Mental Health Care

The integrated-Promoting Action on Research Implementation in Health Services (i-PARIHS) framework (Harvey & Kitson, 2016) was used to develop the Measurement-Based Care Implementation Planning Guide. The Guide identifies 13 implementation steps beginning with identifying the setting and participating staff to determining how to sustain the implementation. Although it was developed specifically for mental health care settings, the content is applicable to other specialties. The Guide is in a worksheet format to allow for documenting decisions, responsible parties, timelines, and action items. A copy of the Guide is available from the Yale Measurement-Based Care Collaborative and in a publication (Dollar et al., 2020).
